Real Destination Wedding - Puerto Rico

If you read my other blog, you know I love Puerto Rico. That sultry mix of Latin + Caribbean flare is intoxicatingly sexy... so needless to say, the island is a great choice for a very romantic destination wedding. I found this wedding over at Destination Wedding Mag and it happens to have taken place at one of my favorite Puerto Rico hotels, the El Convento.

See the entire wedding here.

Puerto Rico is a great choice for a Destination Wedding because its close proximity to the United States keeps the cost of flights down. San Juan is also a major hub for American Airlines access to the Caribbean.

Trash the Dress - South Coast, Antigua

Meet Vanessa Hall... don't you love her story and want to know more? I do! Maybe she'll pen a little memoir when she gets a few more adventures behind her. From October to June, you can likely find Vanessa on the island of Antigua offering up her talented views-through-a-lens on Destination Weddings and Trash the Dress sessions.

See more from this trash the dress session here. Keep Vanessa Hall in mind for your wedding photography needs in Antigua & the Caribbean!

A Real Destination Wedding Packed with Great Ideas!

I spotted this wedding over at Martha Stewart Weddings. It took place in Destin, Florida and had so many great highlights I wasn't sure what to feature!

Love the simple decor - really it is all that was needed on a gorgeous white sand beach:

Local artwork was displayed throughout the reception:

I love that the groomsmen found a beautiful boat to host their group shot. This gives a positive meaning to getting married at this hotel, which is adjacent to a marina. I'm sure you could find a boat owner to let you use their boat for a few photographs.

The favor was a lovely cobalt blue candle with a personalized matchbox - what a smart pairing:

This is my favorite idea... using sparklers, the wedding party spelled out the bride & groom's name and it worked! Lovely!

Get Married at El Dorado Maroma

The El Dorado Maroma is one of the Riviera Maya's most desired resorts. The sand here is the coolest around. It is made of fine coral and so it does not get hot like most beaches. The hotel also has this rustic over-water gazebo complex. It is primarily used for the spa's Sky Massage service but it popular with brides what want a somewhat unique ceremony location:

If you prefer a Catholic ceremony or want to walk down the aisle of a chapel, there is one on property:

After your ceremony move back to the coolness of the beach for a lovely reception!

Check out the rest of my photos from the El Dorado Maroma

The Cancun area remains a top choice for Destination Weddings because it is so easy to find cheap tickets on most major airlines! We typically find flights in the $400 and under range from every major US city.

WeddingTropics - Source for Beach Wedding Attire

WeddingTropics is one of the largest online sources for unique island wedding apparel. They specialize in their own designer label of men's linen beach wedding attire and a wide variety of simple traditional beach wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses.

This is a great source and will hopefully prevent you from the mad search I did for my own destination wedding attire. (Dressing my husband was a much easier task!)

A few of the styles for men:

I don't know what it is about this dress, but I love it! Destination Weddings are fun and carefree and so is this dress:

And this one... looks like it will blow in the breeze perfectly:

Cormia Leather Slippers - Great Grooms Gift!

These handcrafted leather travel slippers from Cormia would be a great gift for your groom or groomsmen. I ordered a pair for my husband for Christmas and they arrived yesterday. (Luckily, he doesn't read this blog.) I am smitten and wish I had a pair. They are so well made with a comforting smell & feel. They are lightweight and not bulky and therefore a perfect addition to bring on any trip.

Normally $68, they are offering a Christmas Special for $20 off. At $48, they are a great deal! Find them here.

Oh What a Week!

This time of year is nuts, isn't it? Between wedding planning and holiday planning, chaos is imminent and I find myself thinking more & more of escaping to a destination spa. You too?

Love the gown color switch-a-roo from this wedding.

Top 10 Bridesmaid Gift List.

Loving her roundup of Pretty Little Wedding Things.

Something old? What about a vintage locket with photos of loved ones?

Still my favorite wedding day beauty product for the tropics.

Have a fun & festive weekend!

Congratulations Tracy & Chad!

Tracy & Chad were married in October at the NOW Jade Riviera south of Cancun. A hurricane blew through a few days prior but luckily the skies cleared and the seas calmed and there ceremony was perfect...

I am super impressed with the beautiful wedding decor provided by NOW Jade Riviera. I love the lime green accents of the fabric and plants... really makes the turquoise color of the sea pop...

Congratulations Tracy & Chad! It was a pleasure working with you and your guests!
